A Multimessenger and Multiwavelength Approach to Uncovering the Transient Universe

Astronomy has entered a “multimessenger” era: one that combines electromagnetic “sight” with gravitational “touch.” This dissertation serves as a roadmap of the multimessenger frontier, to join the littered environments of dead and dying starswith their unclear origins. To uncover stars’ innermost secrets, we explore rare, transient glimpses into single, double, and unknown stellar systems, taking for example Thorne-Zytkow Objects, double white dwarf binaries, and core-collapse supernovae. The work outlined in this thesis highlights the importance of radio astronomy, particularly synchrotron emission, to fill in this picture, as well as the prospects for space and ground-based gravitational wave searches to uncover the mysteries of compact object formation.
